Meet the Makers

Meet the Makers

There’s something pretty special about tasting cheese directly from the hands that made it.

That’s what CheeseFest is all about. For 20 years, we’ve brought together the top artisan cheesemakers from across SA (and Australia) for a weekend of laughter, clinking wine glasses and, of course, cheese in all its glorious forms.

At this year’s festival, you’ll be able to meet more than 25 makers from across the country — from long-time legends to exciting new names. Each one has their own story, and each one makes cheese with the kind of passion you can actually taste.

Why Local Matters

Choosing local cheese isn’t just about taste (though that’s reason enough). It’s about backing the farmers, small businesses, and communities who keep Australia’s cheese culture thriving. Imported cheese might be easy to grab and tempting on a shelf, but nothing compares to meeting the makers face to face and tasting local, artisan-made cheeses.

Go Beyond the Festival

CheeseFest is just the start. If you want to keep the flavour journey going, there’s a whole world to explore right here in South Australia

Drop into the Woodside Cheese Wrights and Kris Lloyd Artisan cellar doors in the Adelaide Hills, or visit Udder Delights on Hahndorf’s main street.

Pick up Maggie Beer Cheeses in your local store and taste the difference of milk straight from SA pastures.

Stock your fridge with a tub (or three) of The Yoghurt Shop’s thick, creamy yoghurt.

Treat yourself to a freshly piped cannoli from The Cannoli Box Co. — a little piece of Italy in Adelaide.

Try Gelato Bello’s new cheese-inspired ice creams at CheeseFest, then visit their Glynde store for another scoop.

Visit Project Burrata at the Adelaide Central Market to add a little something special to your market day.

Make It More Than a Weekend

The story doesn’t end when the festival does. Take the time to keep exploring, meeting makers, and choosing local.
